Fast Facts on this Week’s Featured Wine:

  • 2018 Secret Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Maipo Valley, Chile  ($6.49* @Costco in California – Item #160928) *net price after $2 .50 discount
Label shot of Secret Reserve 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon from Costco
Label shot of Secret Reserve 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon from Costco

Tasting Notes:

The nose has aromas of toasted oak, dried black cherry and blackberry. First sips show medium dry tannins, and flavors of blackberry, spiced plum, and oak. Dark fruit lingers on the finish.  Good to sip on its own but would also pair nicely with grilled beef, pork or hearty vegetarian fare.

The really fun thing about Chilean Cabs is that you can get a wide variety of flavors on the palate depending on where in the country they originate. One should spend time getting to know the differences that Chilean Cabs have to offer. This is a good reference point.

Cheers!
