This is a fantastic Paso Robles Cab from one of our favorite Central Coast wineries, McPrice Myers. Long time reader/friend Moshe C turned us on to this winery and their bottlings are consistently solid. Others have said “this easy-to-drink Cabernet Sauvignon…overdelivers for its price.” The price they were referring to was nearly $30. My local Costco had it for half that price. Can you say: “QPR on steroids?”

Says the winery: “M is a tribute to the mavericks; those who came before us, who farmed this area with grit and determination, and those who continue the legacy today with mettle and moxie. We agree that the key to making stellar wine is working shoulder to shoulder with great farmers in top vineyard sites. We source from some of the most prestigious sites in Paso Robles’ Adelaida, Estrella, El Pomar, Creston, and Geneseo Districts, including John Vineyards, Beato, Armory, Bootjack Ranch, Wilderness, and Lago Vineyards.”
This is classic fruit-driven Paso Cab. You won’t confuse it with the more heavily oaked wines that come out of Napa. This wine (bestowed 91 points by none other than Robert Parker) lets the fruit shine through first, with oak being “icing on the cake.”
Tasting Notes:Pours a deep ruby-purple, with alluring aromas of cassis, pencil shavings, dried herbs, leather and lavender, plus deft touches of baking spices. The full-bodied palate is concentrated and powerful without going over the top. It has abundant, dense chewy tannins, flinty streaks and plenty of refreshing acidity to carry the long finish. Would pair well with lean red meats, lentil soup and turkey burgers. ABV = 14%
