Fast facts:

2023 Terre del Casone Toscana, Italy ($7.99 @Trader Joe’s, California)

For years, our love affair with OG Casone was monogamous.

Then along came the “line extensions” (that’s a term I learned some 40+ years ago in my college Marketing classes) including a Vermentino and, more recently, this Tuscan red blend.

Hence, Casone has earned its spurs as one of the reliable brands that you can reach for with confidence with you are shopping for high QPR wines at Trader Joe’s.

They’re nothing fancy, but they are well built, flavorful and did we mention their really high QPR?

Tasting Notes:

Pours a clearish red/orange.  Looks older than the vintage suggests. In the glass, a nose of dark fruit. Medium bodies with flavors of black cherry and black raspberry. Juicy with a nice balance. Finish continues with dark fruit with modest tannins. Very approachable and ready to be paired with the full suite of traditional Italian cuisine. Great mid week sipper.  ABV = 14 %.
